Stacey Thomas joins Seahawks' cheerleading squad for Holland Happening

“A 1999 graduate and former Oak Harbor High School cheerleader now cheers with the Seattle Seahawks’ Seagals.Stacey Thomas, now living in Kent, went through the 3-week tryout process and learned that she made the cut last Wednesday, said Edee Webster, Thomas’ proud mother.She’ll excel at it, said Thomas’ proud mother Edee Webster, who described her daughter as outgoing and hard-working.The seasonal, part-time position involves going to practice two times a week in the evening. Thomas plans to keep her full-time job as a clerical assistant at a medical center.Thomas went to her first practice last Friday evening, and hit the ground running, appearing with the Seagals at Saturday’s Holland Happening parade.I was the only rookie that went to the parade on Saturday, Thomas said.Thomas tried out for the Seagals three years in a row. In 1999, as an 18-year-old, Thomas made the finals in her very first tryout. Her second attempt last year brought her to the finals once again, but she missed the final cut. Thomas then asked the Seagals director what she needed to improve to make the team.The director recommended that Thomas take jazz dance lessons, telling her that she’d make the team if she had dance skills.It worked, Thomas said.
