Oak Harbor family was in crash that killed Seattle woman

Three members of an Oak Harbor family survived a two-car accident that killed a Seattle woman Sunday afternoon. The State Patrol reported that 30-year-old Seattle resident Sara Cornis was driving a 2000 Honda Civic westbound on Highway 20, about five miles east of Sedro-Woolley.

The State Patrol reported that 30-year-old Seattle resident Sara Cornis was driving a 2000 Honda Civic westbound on Highway 20, about five miles east of Sedro-Woolley.

For an unknown reason, Cornis’ car crossed the centerline and struck an oncoming 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by Fred Swayzer, Jr., a 48-year-old Oak Harbor resident, the State Patrol reported.

Cornis was killed in the accident. Fred Swayzer was not injured, but his 46-year-old passenger, Tracy Swayzer, was injured and transported to United General Hospital in Sedro-Woolley for treatment. She was treated and released.

Another passenger in the Tahoe, 4-year-old Kelie Tobin-Swayzer, was not injured.

Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seatbelt. Both vehicles were totaled.

The State Patrol reported that the cause of the accident is under investigation.
