Breaking a seven-year playoff drought brought big post-season rewards to the Coupeville football team.

CHS had nine athletes named Northwest A/B all-league at 13 different positions.

“I’m just really happy for the seniors, especially after what they’ve gone through the past few years,” CHS head coach Ron Bagby said. “It’s just really nice to have other teams’ coaches recognize these guys.”

Leading the all-league list were seniors Mike Bagby and J.J. Marti. Both players were named first team defense and offense.

On offense Bagby led the Wolves at quarterback completing 71-of-131 passes for 1,022 yards and eight touchdowns. He also rushed for four TDs. Defensively, Bagby had 29 tackles and eight interceptions as a corner back.

At running back Marti rushed 167 times for 1,068 yards and 13 TDs. He also led the Wolves in tackles at linebacker with 86.

Other players honored on second-team offense were senior lineman Ryan Hickman and junior running back Casey Larson. Honorable mentions were senior wide receiver Bryan Sherman and junior wide receiver Trevor Tucker.

Second-team defense included Hickman (DT), Larson (LB) and sophomore James Smith at defensive back. Honorable mentions were juniors Matt Williams (DT) and Tony Prosser (LB).

VOLLEYBALL

Three seniors received honors for the Coupeville volleyball team, which finished second in the Northwest A league and just missed a fifth straight state tournament appearance.

Senior setter Beth Mouw was the lone first team honoree. Mouw ended the season hitting a team-high 92 percent of her serves, 118 assists and 242 good serve receive passes.

Senior Kirsty Croghan took second team honors as a middle hitter and senior Jennifer Bailey was acknowledged with an honorable mention.

BOYS SOCCER

The Coupeville boys soccer team, which advanced to its second straight district tournament, was honored at five positions.

Seniors Mike Duke and Jon Chittim were named to the first team as forward and midfielder respectively.

Senior Micah Einterz was named to the second team as a midfielder.

Honorable mentions included senior midfielder Greg Motett and senior defender Micah Johnson.

Head coach Melissa Martenak was also honored by the league as co-coach of the year. Martenak, who led the Wolves to an 9-7 overall record, shared the honor with LaConner’s John Connell.

GIRLS SOCCER

The Coupeville girls soccer team received its highest all-league selection output in it two-year history with four.

Junior defender Kim Kisch led the Wolfpack as a first-team defender.

Junior midfielder Hayley Waterman and sophomore forward Erin Hickey were both named to the second team, while senior defender Reghan Campbell received an honorable mention.
