The North Whidbey Park and Recreation District Board of Commissioners is  scheduled to name a new executive director and perhaps a new commissioner at a meeting beginning at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 19 at the John Vanderzicht Memorial Pool meeting room.

The commissioners interviewed six candidates last week via Skype, but they delayed making a decision until Thursday’s meeting. The commissioners decided to defer the decision because of confusion surrounding the public notification process.

The person selected will replace Craig Carlson, who resigned his position in December. The commissioners declined to reveal the names of any of the finalists for his position.

Also at the meeting, the elected board hopes to appoint a replacement for commissioner and board president Ron Rhinehart, who resigned his seat because he is moving to Washington, D.C.

Allan McDougall and Bob Wilson have expressed interest in the position. As possible appointees to an elected position, they will be interviewed in public Thursday. Commissioners Rhinehart, Harvey Prosser, Dennis Jepsen, Scott Vogt and Sean Merrill can then discuss their qualifications in a private executive session, but must make any decisions in public.
