Oak Harbor detectives have no active leads in the Sept. 9 robbery of Peoples Bank on Midway Boulevard.

Police Chief Kevin Dresker said the department is in contact with the FBI to help identify any similar bank robberies, but investigators haven’t come up with anything yet. Police are still hoping that a tip could help break the case.

The masked man armed with what appeared to be a handgun robbed the bank at about 9:30 a.m. He displayed the gun and demanded money.

Surveillance footage from inside the bank shows a man wearing a bright blue hoodie. The suspect walked away from the bank and was in the process of taking off the hoodie when he pointed the gun at a citizen who was taking a cell phone photo of him, according to police. Police quickly searched the area and called in a canine unit from off the island but were unable to find the man.
