New planning department head named in Langley

Meredith Penny will be the city’s new director of Community Planning starting Sept. 1.

The city of Langley will have a fresh face from the north to head its planning department, starting next month.

Meredith Penny, formerly the long range planner for Island County, has been selected for the role of director of Community Planning for Langley.

Penny has worked with the county since 2015. She is replacing Brigid Reynolds, who resigned from her role with the city in June.

Reynolds, who has held the position since 2016, cited personal reasons and a desire to focus on her health as her decision to step down from the job.

Reynolds is currently assisting the city on a part-time basis for a 90-day period that began at the beginning of August.
