While I don’t share Ruth Pyren’s thoughts (Letters, May 27) on the fading of Christianity or the veracity of her remarks, I certainly support her right to express them. However, one thing I know for sure is that if she’d made similar remarks about Islam in a Muslim country she and her family would already be dead and the Whidbey News-Times burned to the ground with the staff probably still in it.

It’s okay to have a thought you don’t express, Ms Pyren.
