More movies, better grammar

I have recently moved back to Whidbey Island after a 22-year absence, and I love having a local newspaper to keep me informed about things happening here on The Rock. I do, however, have a couple of suggestions that might be helpful to your readers.

I have recently moved back to Whidbey Island after a 22-year absence, and I love having a local newspaper to keep me informed about things happening here on The Rock. I do, however, have a couple of suggestions that might be helpful to your readers.

First of all, having moved here from Bremerton where we were subscribers to the Kitsap Sun, we were used to having the movie listings for the Bangor sub base as well as the local movie theaters.

Second, we miss seeing the tide tables you used to publish weekly.

I was also wondering if you have replaced your proofreader who left not too long ago. I am a stickler for spelling, grammar and punctuation and noticed two glaring errors on Saturday, Jan. 9 alone: 1) a caption on Trudy Sundberg’s letter reads “Commissioners show judgement.” As much as that spelling makes sense, unfortunately it does not have an “e” in the middle. 2) In “Blessed with giving people” the word “renown” is used as an adjective. Renown (rhymes with noun) is a noun; renowned is the adjective.

Thanks for listening to a picky reader. My husband and I do appreciate the fine little paper you and your staff put out each week.
