In my six-year tenure as superintendent of Coupeville Schools, I had the privilege of working with Mitchell Howard during his first and second successful terms on the school board.

In my opinion, Mitchell brings a reasoned approach to the issues, understands the big picture, and has always been willing to put in the time required to get the job done. Adding to his insight is the fact that Mitchell and his wife, Gladys, raised a child who attended Coupeville schools from kindergarten through high school. Teddy graduated this year.

Mitchell has been a part of planning for the new high school and the other school improvement projects. He has been involved in every step of the process which gives him valuable experience in seeing those projects to completion.

Regarding the most important task at hand, Mitchell can be counted on to have high expectations for student achievement without any agendas he may have getting in the way. He has proven himself time and again to be an excellent Board member. His accumulated wisdom can only help to ensure stability on the board.
