Missing man’s body found on Christmas

The body of Matthew Fitch, who went missing in late October, was found on Christmas day on a beach near Coupeville, according to a press release from the Island County Coroner’s Office.

Around 12:09 p.m. on Tuesday a woman called 911 to report a body on the shore below Madrona Way, the report states. The 45-year-old man went missing from his Central Whidbey home on Oct. 29. Officials from the coroner’s office, Central Whidbey Island Fire and Rescue and the sheriff’s office recovered the body.

The circumstances surrounding Fitch’s death are still being investigated.
