Marion I. Shadel

Marion I. Shadel passed away Jan. 20, 2004, at Whidbey Island Manor, Oak Harbor, at the age of 95. She was born April 30, 1908, in Lansing, Mich., as the daughter of Ray and Irene (Wiselogel) Kocher.

Marion attended Andrews University in Michigan, where she met and married Bill Shadel, who later became a well-known news analyst and anchorman for CBS and ABC. She lived for decades in a Maryland suburb of Washington, D.C. She moved to Oak Harbor in 1995 to be near family.

Mrs. Shadel was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist church. Her older son, Dr. Willard F. Shadel, preceded her in death. Mrs. Shadel is survived by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Tuyet Shadel of Ben Ure Island and by her younger son, Dr. Gerald L. Shadel of Oak Harbor. Burial will be in the family plot in Springport, Mich.
