Marine Resources Committee meets Feb. 6

Island County Marine Resources Committee meets from 4 to 6 p.m., at Heller Road Fire Station in Oak Harbor. On Feb. 20, Island County Marine Resources Committee will meet at Trinity Lutheran Church in Freeland from 4 to 6 p.m. Mary Lou Mills with Washington State Department of Fish and Game will give a presentation on her department’s position on Marine Protected Areas. There are three proposed for Island County. Island County MRC was formed by federal funding to protect and enhance the marine resources of the Northern Puget Sound. Since then Island County MRC has received about $230,000 in grants to map Island County’s resources.
