Oak Harbor police are investigating a shooting that occurred in a parking lot outside the All Sports Pub before midnight on July 2, according to a press release from Capt. Teri Gardner.

A woman called 911 just before midnight to report that a male friend was shot and she was driving him to the hospital. ICOM dispatchers advised her to stop and wait for law enforcement.

Police officers arrived to find the 39-year-old man was shot in the upper chest area.

The man was uncooperative and refused to provide police any information about what happened.

Officers were able to determine, however, that the shooting occurred in the parking lot of the bar on Northeast Goldie Street, according to Gardner.

Paramedics arrived and the man was transported to WhidbeyHealth, formerly known as Whidbey General Hospital. He was transported to a Seattle hospital for treatment, Gardner said, but the injury was “non-fatal.”

Tuesday morning, Gardner said detectives are still investigating the case and didn’t have any further information. She said police weren’t releasing the victim’s name at this time.

The police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call Detective Powers-Rang at 360-279-4648 or ICOM at 360-679-9567 and ask to speak with an officer.
