A 35-year-old man is being held in Island County jail in lieu of $250,000 bail after he allegedly raped a Freeland woman in her home Aug. 20, according to court documents.

Prosecutors charged Jorge T. Ordonez in Island County Superior Court Aug. 24 with first-degree rape and first-degree burglary with sexual motivation.

The 51-year-old woman reported to police at about 10 p.m. Aug. 20 that a stranger raped her in her house in the Useless Bay area.

The woman told Island County deputies that the man came to her door while she was on the telephone and kept on knocking. He didn’t speak English so she gave him a notebook and he wrote “Lolita,” which she said confused her.

The woman also told deputies she went outside with the suspect briefly; she said he grabbed her and pulled her back into the house, according to the report prepared by Detective Chris Peabody with the Island County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman reported that the man, later identified as Ordonez, sexually assaulted her repeatedly.

Ordonez brought a bag containing beer inside the house, the woman said.

The incident lasted about an hour and a half, Peabody wrote in his report.

A deputy saw Ordonez outside the woman’s house the next day and arrested him. Speaking through a translator, Ordonez allegedly told detectives that he was mowing a neighbor’s yard when he saw the woman lying on the ground outside and helped her into her garage.

Ordonez said he came back to the house the next day to check on her. He denied raping the woman, being inside the house and bringing beer.

Deputies said they found beer cans inside Ordonez’ van matching beer cans found inside the house, according to the report.
