“David K. Bockman Jr. allegedly erupted in anger after breaking up with his girlfriend. Police also say he assaulted her, tore up her house and then forcibly raped her March 18.Bockman, a 22-year-old Oak Harbor man, pleaded not guilty to charges of second-degree rape, second-degree malicious mischief and fourth-degree assault last Friday in Island County Superior Court. The rape charge carries a standard sentencing range of seven years and two months to nine years and six months in prison.Bockman’s bail was set at $25,000.The offense report written by Oak Harbor Police Detective Lisa Jenne states that Bockman and his girlfriend went out with friends and returned to her Oak Harbor apartment to talk early in the morning. She alleged to police that he suddenly flipped out and started screaming at her.The report states that the woman locked herself in her bedroom, but Bockman allegedly broke down the door and flipped over her bed. She escaped while he continued destroying her bedroom, the report states. She said she tried to call for help but found that the phone cord was pulled from the wall.Bockman broke down the door of the bathroom after she locked herself in. He ripped her clothes off, led her to the living room and held her off the floor by her neck, the report alleges. Bockman then allegedly raped her, the detective wrote.According to the report, a doctor at Whidbey General Hospital emergency room examined the woman and found injuries consistent with forcible sexual intercourse.After Bockman was arrested March 18, he is reported to have told Jenne he didn’t remember much of what happened, but denied the rape allegation.
