District tournament action begins this weekend for North and Central Whidbey Little League teams.

Three of the tournaments start Saturday, June 28: 9/10 baseball, 11/12 baseball and 9/10 softball.

The 9/10 baseball playoffs take place at Sedro-Woolley’s Kiwanis Fields. North Whidbey faces the host team at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, and the winner will meet Central Whidbey at 2:30 p.m. Sunday. Central Whidbey has a bye in the first round.

The schedule is the similar for the local teams in 11/12 baseball, which will be played at South Whidbey. North Whidbey meets Sedro-Woolley at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, then the winner takes on Central Whidbey at 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

In 9/10 softball, also at South Whidbey, North Whidbey challenges a combined Central and South Whidbey team at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.

The 11/12 softball tournament starts Sunday, June 29, at Oak Harbor’s Volunteer Fields. North Whidbey meets Anacortes and Central/South Whidbey faces Skagit; both games are at 1 p.m.

The Junior Baseball (13/14) tournament begins in Anacortes at Daniels Field at 6 p.m. Monday, June 30, when a combined North/Central/South Whidbey team tackles Sedro-Woolley.

The Junior Softball (13/14) tournament features only two teams, Central and North Whidbey. The best of three series begins at 6 p.m. Monday, June 7, at Coupeville High School.

The 10/11 baseball tournament is also a two-team, best-of-three format. North Whidbey will host Sedro-Woolley at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, in the opener at Windjammer Park.

The North Whidbey Senior Baseball team is the only squad in District 11 and automatically qualifies for state. North Whidbey meets the District 10 champion (Tacoma/Puyallup/Kent) at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 12, at Shoreline’s Meridian Park in the opening round.
