Lions Club auction nears
The waiting is almost over for Central Whidbey’s annual buying frenzy.
On June 28 and 29 starting at 9 a.m., Coupeville Lions Club is presenting the “biggest & best in our world” 29th annual Garage Sale at the Coupeville Elementary School grounds.
This garage sale is located near the only stoplight on Highway 20 and Main Street, Coupeville. Tools and auto equipment, good used furniture, sporting goods, children’s toys, electronics, appliances, bikes and skates, exercise equipment, collectables and more which have been collected all year for this event.
Faithful attendees never miss the auction preview, which will be held Friday, June 27, from noon to 4 p.m.
Sale proceeds are used to support a host of community projects supported by the Coupeville Lions Club.
School vandals leave obscenities
The last week of school was marred by a case of vandalism at Oak Harbor High School.
Tuesday evening, someone came to the high school and painted obscenities on the wall of the field house, trash cans and benches, said Joe Hunt, communications director for the school district.
He added that the word “Coupeville” was also painted, but that doesn’t necessarily mean students from the other school were involved in the vandalism.
It was fairly easy for workers to clean up the obscene graffiti on the trash cans and benches by painting over them, Hunt said. However, the paint on the fieldhouse wall will require sand blasting.
Hunt said there were security cameras operating Tuesday night.
Charters
with honor
Deception Pass Tours now offers charter services and has stepped up to the plate to donate a free roundtrip from Coupeville Wharf today to honor the grand opening of Cama Beach, and to introduce the charter service to islanders and visitors.
The boat tour company is beginning a charter-based water transportation solution in an effort to create a convenient link between the two county islands.
The service became viable after two substantial floating docks were installed at Camano Island State Park. The Deception Pass Tours boat is a perfect fit.
The tour boat has a protective canopy, seats up to 34 people and can even pull up onto the beach.
