I am a parent who has had four children in the school district at one time (currently three). I see the benefits the levy provides. When we moved here in 1998, I couldn’t believe there wasn’t a hot lunch program. Now there is, and it benefits many students. I have seen the value of the arts programs, and how artistic our children are. My oldest is currently attending the Art Institute of Seattle. Our children need physical education for body and mind. I have seen the technological progress the levy has made in the classrooms. The district was able to hire additional teachers and instructional aides to meet the needs of our children. Our high school children now have advanced placement classes and are able to compete better for further education with others around the state and country.

Also, as a parent I got involved. I was a member of the Levy Oversight Committee for two years, the last of which I was chairperson. Twelve members met monthly. We reviewed budgets and received updates from various departments regarding the progress and how the levy funds were used. I can say the funds are used appropriately. There is accountability. The levy is good for our children and community.
