Letter: Grateful for caring Coupeville visitor

Editor,

Thank you kind gentleman for coming to my rescue. Under embarrassing circumstances I met Max from Lancaster, Pa., in town as a tourist, taking a break from visiting his kid stationed on Whidbey.

He just happened to be on hand to be my hero on Coupeville’s historic Front Street.

Max came across me lying flat on my back, having slipped and fallen moments before. Together Max and I learned that I wasn’t going anywhere on my own, so he kindly dialed 911.

As you might expect, there was some commotion as our wonderful EMS folks scooped me up and wheeled me to the “bus.” But before they gave my gurney a final push I spied Max in the crowd, called him over and kissed his face.

I didn’t learn enough about Max to send him a “thank you” note. Perhaps he’ll get the message anyway.

By the way, I received very nice treatment by all at WGH and I am on the mend. I dodged a bullet, my drastically stretched hamstrings are heading back to their familiar position and my 10-year-old replaced hip wasn’t damaged.

I also want to thank Tim McDonald and Long Bechard for collecting our six-month-old puppy and calling Joe to pick her up.  This town is magic and I sure am glad and grateful for the help and concern of others, especially tourists from Lancaster, Pa.

Jackie Feusier
