League of Women Voters hosts two candidate forums

The group, together with Sno-Isle Libraries, is hosting virtual candidates’ forums on Oct. 18 and 20.

Is there a question that you’d like to ask a local candidate for public office?

The League of Women Voters of Whidbey Island is offering the public a chance. The group, together with Sno-Isle Libraries, is hosting virtual candidates’ forums on Oct. 18 and 20. They begin at 6 p.m.

Members of the public are invited to submit questions for the candidate committee’s consideration by email, to lwv.whidbey@gmail.com. The deadline for question submissions is Oct. 9.

With so many contested local and state races affecting Whidbey Island on the ballot, the league split the forums into two virtual events. The first, on Oct. 18, will feature candidates for Island County assessor, auditor, clerk, sheriff and treasurer.

The Oct. 20 forum will feature candidates Island County commissioners as well as two state representative positions in District 10, which includes Whidbey Island. The leagues of Skagit and Snohomish counties will join the Whidbey Island league for the second forum.

The Zoom link to the forums will be posted on the League’s website, lwvwhidbey.org, one day in advance of each event.
