Jerry Preston Fillman, 68, died at an Everett hospital on July 28, 2006.
Mr. Fillman was born in San Diego on Oct. 13, 1937 to Harry Preston Fillman and Thelma Krueger Fillman. He joined the U.S. Navy after graduating from high school, serving from 1955 to 1958.
Following his Honorable Discharge from the U.S. Navy, Mr. Fillman enrolled in Citrus College in Glendora, Calif., and he served as the student body president, then completed his business degree at Cal State Fullerton. He later went on to attend additional classes at the University of Southern California and became an avid fan of USC.
Mr. Fillman had worked in Saudi Arabia. He later worked stateside as a purchasing manager for Vivitar. Mr. Fillman married Judith Hier Campbell at the Crystal Cathedral on May 16, 1981. In 1985 he and a friend formed Muller-Metz Architectural Wooden Products in Santa Ana, Calif., and in 1990 he and his wife, Judith, moved the business to Coupeville.
Mr. Fillman is survived by his wife, Judith of Coupeville; one daughter, Jana Marcuse of Redlands, Calif.; one son, Scott Campbell of Coupeville; his sister, Monica Kyler of Grants Pass, Ore.; two granddaughters, Hannah and Sarah Campbell of Lisbon Falls, Maine; and his nephew, Martin DaRoss of Seattle. He was preceded in death by one son, Mark Campbell and by one brother, Lynn Fillman.
Memorial services for Jerry Preston Fillman will be held at Sunnsyside Cemetery, Coupeville, on Friday, Aug. 4, at 3 p.m. Arrangements were entrusted to Burley Funeral Chapel, Oak Harbor.
