The Board of Island County Commissioners on Wednesday scheduled a hearing on a new fireworks ordinance for 10:15 a.m. Tuesday, April 5.
The new law, C-28-16, would let the Island County sheriff temporarily ban the use of fireworks in severe dry-weather conditions in unincorporated areas of the county.
The law would let the sheriff act as the county’s fire marshal, giving him the power to impose a fireworks ban.
The meeting will be held in the Commissioners’ Hearing Room, located downstairs in the Courthouse Annex Building, Room #B102, at 1 NE 6th St. in Coupeville.
