Don’t worry if you haven’t received your property tax bill from Island County yet.

Island County Treasurer Ana Maria Nunez announced this week that 2011 property tax statements should be mailed out by Monday, March 21. It’s  later than previous years due to the implementation and procedural changes associated with the county’s new property tax software.

“I appreciate the understanding and patience of the Island County taxpayers who diligently called the office inquiring as to the status of the statements,” Nunez said in a press release.

Chief Deputy Treasurer Wanda Grone said the office has received calls from property owners who were worried that their statements had been lost in the mail. For those who want to see their statements as soon as possible, Grone said they’ve been available online for the last 10 days.

To access the information, go to www.islandcounty.net and click on “Island County Property Tax Data and Tax Information On-Line” at the right side of the page. Follow the prompts.

While the statements may be later than usual, they will be out in plenty of time to meet state requirements. Grone said state law dictates that the bills be sent out at least 30 days prior to the date they are due.

First half payments are due by April 30. However, as this is a Saturday, payments will be accepted, without interest assessed, if paid or postmarked by May 02, 2011.
