If OLF can be closed, why not highways? | Letter to the Editor

Editor,

First off, congratulations to the folks who got the Navy to stop flying its airplanes.

This goes to show what a few determined citizens can do.

Now that we got the Outlying Field effectively shut down, it’s time to focus on something much more dangerous, something even more of a nuisance here on beautiful Whidbey Island.

It’s time to close state highways 525 and 20.

How many more people have to die each year before we come together and get rid of this killer?

The noise is very distracting and is affecting our quality of life here on paradise island.

To make matters worse, the rumble strips make it even louder.

If we can come together to close the air strip that was here before most of us moved to Whidbey, let’s get together and get Highway 20 closed for the health and safety of Whidbey Island.

After this dangerous and noisy nuisance is gone we won’t need Island Transit anymore so we can use that money to pay for other more important things.

So let’s all band together and get our island back.
