We returned to Oak Harbor to spend a week with my sister who was in poor health. Because of the wonderful owner and manager of the Queen Ann Motel, we were able to stay an additional week due to their giving us a special rate. Consequently, I was there to take my sister to a specialist in Anacortes, who we’re hoping with new treatment will help her health to improve.
We’d stayed at the motel in July, 2004, and at that time were so impressed with how considerate we were treated. My sister was in the hospital, and it was a very busy time with “Race Week†making rooms hard to find, but we were given a room at a reasonable rate because of our situation.
In contrast, on leaving Oak Harbor our car broke down in Oregon, we were stranded on a Saturday night after being towed, and left in a car dealer’s lot. A cab took us to a nearby motel where we explained what had happened to us, but no special treatment did we receive and we had to stay there three nights!
We are both elderly and my husband is disabled so can’t say enough about the special kindness shown us in Oak Harbor.
