Volunteers will gather this evening to kickoff the campaign to promote Whidbey General Hospital’s $50 million bond to fund expansion and upgrades.

The kickoff is 6-7 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13 at Coupeville Town Park located on Coveland Street. Organizers will outline details of the campaign, distribute signs along with fact sheets and other bond information.

Voters will decide Nov. 5 whether to approve the bonds to pay for the project. If approved, it would cost a homeowner 32.2 cents per $1,000 assessed property value.

The bonds would be paid off in 25 years. The bond has to pass by a 60 percent supermajority in order to be approved.
