High risk offender discussed

Island County Sheriff Mark Brown is holding a public meeting in the city of Oak Harbor Thursday to discuss a Level 3 sex offender.

Nathan Evans, 24, was categorized as a high risk sex offender by the Sheriff’s Office because of his criminal history, which includes a recent charge for failing to register as a sex offender, the Sheriff’s Office reported.

In 2001, Evans raped a 12-year-old girl; he was subsequently convicted and sentenced to two years and five months in prison, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Evans will be living at a home on NW Calista Court.

Residents can meet Sheriff Brown and Oak Harbor Police officials at the 7 p.m. meeting Sept. 20 at the city’s public works facility at 1400 NW 16th Ave.
