Allie Hanigan’s comeback win in first singles highlighted Coupeville’s 5-2 loss at Port Townsend Monday, April 28.

Hanigan trailed 5-2 in the first set before storming back to take the final five games for a 7-5 win. She then took set two 6-4.

“Allie kept her composure,” coach Ken Stange said. “The look she bore at 2-5 was the same look that she had before and after the match – unflappable. It was a gut check kind of moment for her, and she found the win deep within her. Her grace under pressure made Allie an easy choice for Player of the Match.”

The Wolves also picked up a win in third doubles from Valen Trujillo and Ivy Luvera (6-2, 6-4).

Haleigh Deasy/Maureen Rice (5-1) and Bree Daigneault/Sydney Aparicio (4-1) won JV doubles matches.

Some of the matches were cut short because Coupeville had to leave to catch the ferry.

The Wolves defeated the combined team of Port Townsend and Chimacum 4-3 earlier this season.

Coupeville (1-4, 3-7) entertains Granite Falls (3-3, 3-8) at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, and Lakewood (0-6, 0-6) Wednesday, April 30, before going to Archbishop Murphy (5-2, 5-2) Thursday, May 1.
