Guns needed in civilized society | Letters

What’s so special about gun rights people, the ones who don’t want any regulation? Every right has limits and responsibilities. What’s so awful about closing loopholes and requiring registration and background checks for all gun purchases and outlawing assault weapons and magazines? Why would a law-abiding citizen object to reasonable limits?

Editor,

What’s so special about gun rights people, the ones who don’t want any regulation? Every right has limits and responsibilities.

What’s so awful about closing loopholes and requiring registration and background checks for all gun purchases and outlawing assault weapons and magazines? Why would a law-abiding citizen object to reasonable limits?

There’s no way to live in a civilized, democratic country without them.

Why have we become such a fearful nation since 9/11 that some feel they need to be armed to go for coffee, shop or attend a public meeting? The gun manufacturers have certainly prospered from this unease at the country’s expense.

Let’s put the wild-west days behind us again and fund adequate police protection and leave guns at home. We’ll all be safer as all other developed countries have demonstrated.
