A Greenbank woman was arrested Thursday night after she crashed a pickup and fled from the scene, according to the Washington State Patrol.

Sarah Whitmarsh, 36, was driving a 2012 Chevrolet 1500 pickup and struck a power pole on North Bluff Road at Wonn Road at a little after 6 p.m., Trooper Mark Francis said.

Whitmarsh was gone when officers arrived. Deputies and troopers searched the area for her.

A trooper ended up going to her nearby residence and was told that she had been transported to Whidbey General Hospital with minor injuries.

The trooper went to the hospital. He obtained a search warrant for a blood sample because he suspected she was under the influence, Francis said.

The trooper arrested her on suspicion of DUI after she was released from the hospital.

Whitmarsh was booked into the county jail.
