The Greenbank Farm Management Group does a year end “Annual Appeal” fund drive each year, and this year has the opportunity to double the amount raised thanks to the generosity of donors willing to do a match of funds up to $15,000.

The original appeal letter was sent in early October with a deadline of Dec. 1.

“With well over half the money raised, donors have agreed to extend the deadline to the end of the year to allow the group more time to collect additional donations,” said Virginia Bloom, executive director of the farm. “This end of year push for the final dollars needed to turn $15,000 into $30,000 has resulted in some additional letters, cards and calls to potential supporters.”

The Greenbank Farm Management Group is the non-profit organization that manages the farm for the Port of Coupeville, the owner of the land. Bloom said this year has shown marked improvement in controlling costs that allows the money raised by the annual appeal fund drive to be used for deferred maintenance and upgrades on the historic buildings and not just cover operational costs.

Several such projects are under way, including new floors at the Jim Davis House, which is used as a meeting space by many local organizations and clubs, additional storage areas for tenants and fencing in the agricultural areas.
