A 32-year-old Freeland man is accused of stabbing his mother to death in the morning of Friday, Nov. 17, according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Justin Wiener on suspicion of murder in the second degree after he turned himself in and described the crime, the sheriff’s office reported.

According to a statement from the department, a resident called 911 at 10:49 a.m. to report that a man walking in the area of Cameron Road said that he had committed the crime and wanted to report it. The man, later identified as Wiener, had blood on his hands and pants.

Deputies soon arrived and contacted Wiener, who confessed to assaulting his mother and said she was dead, the statement indicated. He described the injuries and where he placed the weapons he used.

Other deputies went to the 5500 block of Myrtle Avenue in Freeland and located the family home, which is a newer camp trailer. After knocking and getting no response, they went inside and found the unresponsive adult woman lying on the floor.

The deputies saw blood on the floor and blood on the right side of the woman’s neck. She also had multiple lacerations on her chest, according to the statement.

The deputies began CPR and called for emergency responders, but the woman did not survive her injuries.

Court documents indicated that Wiener does not have a felony criminal history. He appeared in court Saturday afternoon.
