The Coupeville High School football and volleyball teams play in important matches tonight, Nov. 3.

The football team travels to Sequim at 5 p.m. to face Chimacum in a tie-breaking contest.

The teams split their two meetings this year and tied for third in the Olympic League. The conference sends three teams to the district playoff, so Coupeville and Chimacum will play two quarters in Sequim to determine which will qualify.

The winner will play Friday at Puyallup’s Cascade Christian, the Nisqually League and defending 1A state champion, in the first round of the district tournament.

The loser will go to Vashon Island for non-league game.

The Coupeville volleyball team (5-9) hosts Seattle Christian (8-8) at 6 p.m. in a loser-out, district play-in game. The winner travels to Cascade Christian (11-4) Thursday in another loser-out match.

That winner advances to the four-team, double-elimination portion of the tournament Saturday, Nov. 7, at Charles Wright Academy.
