Thank you for the great editorial.

There are many, many people in Central Whidbey who welcome the planes flying at Outlying Field Coupeville. It is not just North Whidbey residents and North Whidbey shopkeepers wanting the field to remain open so pilots can get the training they deserve.

The planes go over my home as they have for many years. We want the men and women in all branches of the military, no matter where they are, to have as much training as possible.

Our sleep goes on, the deer in our yard pay no attention, eagles sitting on our barn just seem to not care how low the protestors claim they fly, and they certainly do not fly as low as they say.

Certainly the COER group had a right to protest about almost anything. That is a right in our country, but flying our flag upside down takes away any respect we had for members of that group.

It was very childish.

It would have taken just a small amount of knowledge to know that an airstrip means planes, a railroad probably has trains going by blowing whistles and a lake could host personal watercraft and water skiers. Common sense should prevail when purchasing a home.
