Fields earns spot in tri-district | Girls golf

Coupeville High School golfer Christine Fields overcame a rough first nine holes at the District 1A Girls Golf Tournament at the North Bellingham Golf and Country Club Thursday, May 15, to qualify for the tri-district tournament.

Bremerton’s Golf Mountain Golf Course will host tri-district Tuesday, May 20. Fields tees off a 12:30 p.m.

The top 16 qualifiers at tri-district move on to the state tournament.

District was played with a shotgun start, and Fields scored a 58 on holes 4 through 12. She settled in on the second nine, carding a 43 to finish with a 101 to place 10th.

The junior was fourth at district as a freshman and fifth last year. She placed seventh at tri-district two years ago and sixth last spring.

As a freshman, she was eighth in the state; last year she placed 15th.
