Festival of Trees offers elegance and plenty of fun

Help offer brighter days through brighter holidays. The festival features a gala and auction, teddy bear breakfast, high tea and a community open house. The Elk’s Lodge in Oak Harbor will be transformed into an elegant holiday wonderland by the beautifully decorated Christmas trees and wreaths.

The gala and auction is set for Friday, Dec. 6, at 5:30 p.m. The black tie evening features an auction of the decorated trees and wreaths sponsored by local businesses and individuals. Bid on a variety of auction items available. New this year will be a silent auction on holiday centerpieces. Gala tickets are $50 per person, and can be purchased at the following locations: CADA, Big Brothers/Big Sisters, ERA Acorn Properties, and Whidbey Island Bank at 3125 Highway 20.

The popular family-friendly teddy bear breakfast will have two seatings Saturday, Dec. 7. The first seating will be at 8:30 am, the second seating at 10:30 am. The entire family will enjoy this menu of French toast, eggs and sausage with entertainment by Academy of Dance. Families are encouraged to bring a new stuffed animal to donate to a child in a crisis. Tickets for the Teddy Bear Breakfasts are $5 per person and can be purchased at the following Oak Harbor locations: Alaska USA Mortgage, The Daily Grind, Discount Party Store, and Jones Accounting.

Catch the spirit of the holiday season with High Tea Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. enjoy a cup of tea, scones, and pastries while Father Christmas and holiday entertainers serenade you with holiday favorites. The beauty of the trees and wreaths will certainly put you in the holiday spirit. Tickets are $5 a person; please call the Festival of Trees hotline number at 675-3262 for ticket sale locations.

The Festival of Trees will conclude with a community open house Sunday, Dec. 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., everyone is invited to come and enjoy the magic of Festival of Trees. Participants are invited to vote on their favorite decorated tree and wreath. Holiday music and refreshments will be provided. Admission will be by donations.

Island Thrift is the underwriter for the Festival of Trees.
