Your article May 11, “Telemarketers wanted in town,” hit a sore spot with me and multitudes of people who value their privacy.

The increasing sales of expensive devices to deter telemarketers from invading the privacy of your home by telephone speaks for itself. All sorts of legislation has been considered to control this unwanted intrusion, yet they continue to call.

I would like to suggest that the News-Times print the names, addresses and home telephone numbers of all the telemarketers. Then, like the sex offenders, the public would know where they live and how to contact them at our convenience. Perhaps they would then understand why their occupation is respected about the same as sex offenders, drug dealers, pimps and prostitutes in most American communities.

If the companies who hire these services would resort to sending their message by U.S. mail, we could read or trash it at our discretion. Besides, the post office needs the business.
