The May 4 Whidbey News-Times editorial, suggesting more of the same botched land assessment for the next 18 months, is not in the community interest. 

The Board of Equalization just ordered my land assessment reduced by $60,000.

I knew the procedure, but what about those who do not, or just gave up because of poor information provided to them.

Continuation of current practices by the assessor of Island County will not provide the property owners with true market value or the elimination of the chore of appealing the unsubstantiated values assigned to their properties.
