Errors continue to haunt the Oak Harbor High School fastpitch team as it dropped a 9-2 game to Lynnwood at Hillcrest Elementary School Friday, March 25.

The Royals, helped by Wildcat mistakes, scored six unearned runs in an eight-run second inning to put the game out of reach.

Oak Harbor relief pitcher Emily Saar took over for Emily Hunt in the third inning, and with the help of a more secure defense, limited Lynnwood (3-3, 2-2) to just one unearned run the final five innings.  Saar scattered six hits, struck out four and walked one.

Alex Kaipat drove in Abby Rankin, who had singled, for Oak Harbor’s first run in the second.

Amanda Pavey, who doubled twice for the Wildcats, was driven home by Nichelle Trumbull in the seventh for Oak Harbor’s other score.

Saar rapped Oak Harbor’s only other hit.

Coach Jess Weikle said, “Without errors, we have a tied ball game.”

She added, “Emily Saar and (catcher) Shawna Steele had a great game together.”

Oak Harbor (1-4, 1-2) travels to Shorewood (1-2, 2-4) Wednesday, April 6, at 4 p.m.
