Family is the whole story

Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your 10th District State Representative. It has been the greatest honor of my life.

With that said, I wanted to tell you why I am resigning in January.

I came to the conclusion that between my legislative position, my second job, political responsibilities, and the forthcoming 2008 campaign, I was spread too thin and had responsibilities that were constantly causing me to choose between doing my job and being the best husband and father I can be.

When I first ran for the Legislature in 2004 I was single. Then it was easy to put myself wholly into the job. Today that is just not the case because I need to put my wife and daughter first.

The 10th District will be best served by a legislator who will focus on the district’s needs in the upcoming session rather than someone who is most interested in how soon they can get home to their family.

That really is the whole story!

My gratitude to so many people for their support is impossible to put into words because there are so many I need to thank. Among those I must mention is Gina Bull, who has served as my able and trusted legislative assistant throughout my tenure in Olympia. I would also be remiss without mentioning my friend and mentor Jack Metcalf who passed on earlier this year.

Thank you again for the greatest honor of my life!
