The Coupeville High School cheer team — two dozen strong — will pump up the spirit in Central Whidbey this fall.

“We have a great diverse group of girls this season,” coach Cheridan Eck said. “They have a wonderful spirit overall and will bring their love of life to the field.”

Eck welcomes back 12 team members from last fall: seniors Kaela Hollrigel (captain), Kiara Burdge (captain), Lainey Dickson, Naika Hallam and Robin Cedillo; juniors Claire Mietus and Heather Nastali; and sophomores Abby Hamilton, Gaby Halpin, Julie Bucio, Moira Reed and Natasha Estes.

Twelve newcomers have joined the squad: juniors Amber Benway, Kameryn St. Onge, Maggie Crimmins and Mira Mostafavinassab; sophomore Kaley Grigsby; and freshmen Ashleigh Battaglia, Bronwyn Schmidt, Ja’Tarya Hoskins, Mica Shipley, Nanci Melendrez, Natalie Hollrigel and Jaden Marrs.

Sophomores Melissa Otto and Hannah Benway are the managers.

“A successful year would be that they come away feeling loved and supported by one another through friendships and OHANA (family),” Eck said.
