Elections: You have to earn this vote

Who are they? Those names on the roadside signs asking for your vote?

What is it we know about them besides what’s posted on the signs or in the literature that’s been sent in the mail?

It seems the only time we hear from people seeking public office is when they want something, like a job. Why should they, just because they ask? If they want to get my vote I want more than a roadside sign or some fancy smiley parcel of literature that comes in the mail.

Tell me how you are going to use my taxes wisely, then show me. Show me what you’re doing to make my taxes count!

Then maybe you’ll get my vote. You won’t get a free ride on my dime.

I want you to always remember you work for me, the one who pays your salary. I want you to remember you’re not in this job for a free ride for your elected term.

I have to work and be accountable for my time and work to my employer, and so should you. So tell me why you should get my vote!
