I have worked with both candidates running for the contested seat for the 10th Legislative District State House of Representatives. While both work well in almost all committees and small groups, Eron Berg has proven himself the better and more capable candidate for the position.
Eron has actively demonstrated his fiscally conservative and responsible budget work by researching and locating established federal money sources versus requiring more local taxation to solve several major costly problems in LaConnner while mayor. He has solved age-old problems with intelligence and perseverance. His quick responsive actions in the sidewalk crisis prevented LaConner from facing serious litigation and allowed LaConner to maintain its open doors for tourist mobility. He has been a voice of reason and consensus building as chair of the Skagit Council of Governments. He has taken the time to learn almost all aspects of the district first hand.
Eron brings a first hand knowledge of small business from his own perspective and businesses, as well as the many businesses he has worked with in his governmental work in Skagit County. He has also taken the time to look over the needs of our district and made contacts to ensure that all voices have access to him and the decisions he makes in their behalf.
He knows that education is critical as our district has the fastest growing K-12 population per capita in the state. He has taken the time to visit and work in K-12 classrooms in the district and he has seen the needs and the areas of bureaucratic mandates from the state that need cutting. He does not just use education for the quick photo opportunity and sound bite, he has walked the talk. He knows directly the help needed in schools.
I urge you to take the time, know your candidates. You will see that Eron Berg meets the needs of the 10th Legislative District. He has earned my vote and he will earn yours too.
