A 73-year-old Lynnwood man on a 2006 Honda GL 1800 trike was injured in a collision last Wednesday afternoon on Highway 20 in front of a North Whidbey convenience store.

The Washington State Patrol reports that 22-year-old Oak Harbor resident Jason Flowers was driving a 1992 Ford Explorer, pulling a boat on a trailer. Flowers was exiting the parking lot of Liberty Market, which is just north of Oak Harbor.

Robert Stahl was driving a three-wheel motorcycle and was attempting to turn into the parking lot. Flowers failed to see Stahl on the trike, pulled out onto the highway and the two vehicles collided at about 1:17 p.m., the State Patrol reported.

Trooper Josh Lancaster said Stahl suffered a fractured leg and was transported to Whidbey General Hospital for treatment. Stahl was wearing a helmet. Flowers was not injured.

The Explorer sustained about $800 worth of damage while damage to the trike was estimated at $1,000, according to the State Patrol. Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

Lancaster said he will likely cite Flowers for failure to yield.
