A 20-year-old Oak Harbor man was recently sent to prison for shooting up a Clinton house last year in revenge for a drug deal gone bad, according to court documents.

Bryce Hill pleaded guilty earlier this month to one count of drive-by shooting. The prosecutor dismissed a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm as part of the plea bargain.

He was sentenced to two years and three months in prison. He’ll get credit for time served in jail.

Hill was the prosecution’s star witness in the trial last year of Christopher Malaga, who was convicted of the first-degree murder of Oak Harbor resident Adam Garcia.

Last August, Hill asked a friend to drive him to Clinton, where he snuck up to a house and shot into it. Deputies later found 15 spent 9 mm casings outside and six bullet holes in the house.

Nobody was home at the time of the shooting, but the prosecutor said Hill didn’t know that. A witness gave the police the license plate number of the getaway car.

Hill threw the gun, his hat and sweatshirt out the window when they drove away. Police were unable to locate the gun.

The police report indicates that Hill shot into the house because he was mad about being ripped off in a deal involving pot.

The woman who drove Hill was charged as an accomplice in a drive-by shooting.
