Donna Jean Eaton

Donna Jean Eaton, 67, lifetime resident of Whidbey Island, died at her San de Fuca home following a lengthy battle with cancer.

Mrs. Eaton was born in Oak Harbor Jan. 9, 1935, to John Edward Armstrong and Bertha Irene (Brooks) Armstrong. She attended school in Coupeville, and lived in San de Fuca for most of her entire life. On Jan. 27, 1950, she married Harold C. Eaton. She loved birds, camping, crocheting and sewing. She also enjoyed serving as camp cook for the family hunting expeditions and clamdigging at the ocean. She especially loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Donna was the first woman volunteer for the San de Fuca Fire Department.

She is survived by her six children, Denny Eaton and wife Linda of Coulee Dam; Linda McCarty and husband Mike of Montesano; Karen Bogdan and Rick Bogdan of Boise, Idaho and Davis Calif.; Mike Eaton and wife Linda of Munt Vernon; John Eaton and wife Mary Beth of Oak Harbor and Shelly Beadnell and husband Richard of Carrolton, Ohio; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one aunt, Helen Adams of Sedro-Woolley; also, numerous nieces and nephews. Donna was preceded in death by her husband Harold June 25, 1995; also by two brothers, two sisters and one great-grandson.

In keeping with Mrs. Eaton’s wishes, the casket will remain closed, but those wishing may come to Burley Funeral Chapel for a time of reflection on Friday, Aug. 23, from 3-5 p.m.

A graveside service will be Saturday, Aug. 24, 2002, at 11 a.m., at Sunnyside Cemetery, Rev. Stuart Corey officiating. Memorials may be made to the San de Fuca Fire Dept., the American Cancer Society or the Coupeville Lions. Arrangements under direction of Burley Funeral Chapel.
