Discover Passes now available for checkout at Sno-Isle Libraries

Through the Check Out Washington program, card holders can borrow a Discover Pass for up to a week.

The Sno-Isle Library system announced Monday that its libraries would become the latest in the state to join a program that allows card holders to forgo parking fees when visiting state parks.

Through the Check Out Washington program, card holders at participating libraries can borrow a Discover Pass from their local library for up to a week.

Each library in the Sno-Isle system and the Library on Wheels Bookmobile will have two Discover Passes available for checkout. As with other materials, customers can place a hold on a Discover Pass to pick up at their preferred branch.

A Discover Pass allows a user to park at all Washington state parks, more than 350 primitive recreation sites, nearly 700 water-access points, nearly 2,000 miles of designated water and land recreation trails, more than 80 natural areas, and more than 30 wildlife areas.

Washington State Parks offers the program in partnership with the Washington State Library and the Washington departments of Fish and Wildlife and Natural Resources.

The Washington State Parks Foundation provided initial funding to help launch the program in 2019. In 2021, the Legislature provided funding for two special Discover Passes to any library outlet that requested them, expanding Check Out Washington across the state.
