Oak Harbor High School teachers and coaches Jonathan Atkins and Cory Whitmore were tabbed to be the Wolves’ new head football and volleyball coaches respectively.

The pair replace the husband and wife coaching tandem of Brett and Breanne Smedley, who are returning to Brett Smedley’s alma mater, Columbia River High School in Vancouver, to teach and coach.

Atkins was a member of the Oak Harbor football coaching staff for four years, serving as defensive coordinator last fall. He plans to continue as the Wildcats’ head girls basketball coach.

Whitmore was the Oak Harbor C-team volleyball coach in 2014 and 2015.

More detailed stories about the new coaches will follow this summer.
