Coupeville Lions Club giant garage sale is this weekend

Proceeds from the garage sale will go towards services the club provides to help the community

For its 46th year, the Coupeville Lions Club is turning donated odds and ends into community gold with its annual garage sale, a summer event that draws in eager shoppers, funds local services and brings the town together under a shared love of bargains and giving back.

“At 9 o’clock, all simultaneously, they flood the room,” said PR Chair Deanna Rogers, reminiscing at the chaos she’s come to love. “That’s the exciting part for me, to see everybody get the things they really want.”

The garage sale will be held 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 28, at Coupeville Elementary Saturday and half-price from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Sunday. The public is also invited to preview items 3-6 p.m. on Friday.

The Coupeville Lions Club is part of an international network with hundreds of members. All club members are volunteers dedicated to serving their communities.

Sale proceeds from the annual garage sale in Coupeville will go towards services the club provides to help the community, including funding firewood cutting for the needy, sponsoring community projects for boys and girls, donating to the food bank and more.

Since its inception, community members have donated loved and no-longer-needed items to the Coupeville Lions Club year-round. Rogers is proud of the annual garage sale’s ability to save the items from the landfill and give them a second home.

“I love what we do for the community. It’s a win-win,” Rogers said.

All sale items will be displayed in a garage sale fashion, sitting on tables and shelves. This year, the club will be selling a variety of items, including upholstered furniture, yard tools, books, china, appliances and more. The sale will also feature a special silent auction on Saturday for its classic Lego sets.

This weekend’s selection will have nearly everything you may find at a regular garage sale, “only 10 times as much,” Rogers said excitedly.

After 46 years, the garage sale draws in every walk of life, from families to seniors. Some customers have returned year after year.

“It’s just fun happening for Coupeville. It’s the highlight of the summer,” Rogers said.

The Coupeville Lions Club members look forward to getting the community together, selling affordable goods and collecting money to fund their services throughout the year.
