The Coupeville High School tennis team picked up its first conference win by defeating visiting Chimacum Friday, April 15.
The Wolves won 4-3 in dramatic fashion. Coupeville built a 3-0 lead, the Cowboys (1-1, 3-6) knotted the score, and then Kamryn St. Onge and Kenzie LaRue captured third doubles (6-2, 6-2) to wrap up the team win.
The victory helped the Wolves (1-0, 2-3) get off to a good start in their defense of the conference title.
The Wolves’ Sydney Autio won second doubles 6-4, 6-3, then Coupeville won three of the four doubles matches to slip by Chimacum (which also includes players from Port Townsend).
